1. PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
As 2017 draws to a close, breed members can reflect on quite a busy year for South Devon. An AGM and Herd Tour hosted in Dunedin, a World Congress Tour in South Africa and the final Beef Expo to be held at Manfeild in the format that we have become accustomed to with Angus and Hereford opting to hold a video auction in 2018.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the South Devon Board and the PBB Office for their hard work throughout the year. I would also like to thank all the members who have promoted the South Devon Breed at the various A & P Shows and events around the country during the year. It was encouraging to see at this years’ Canterbury A & P Show South Devon had the largest number of breed entries of all the breeds represented in the show.
Congratulations to Fraser & Sandra McKenzie for their success at the Canterbury A &P Show winning the Supreme South Devon Ribbon with Wainuku Big Time.
The venue and timing of next years’ AGM is still to be finalised but could possibly be in the Wellington Region, encompassing some interesting non-agricultural visits.
Finally, I would like to wish each of you a Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year and a safe Festive Season.
"One finds limits by pushing them."
Herbert Simon
Kind regards,
RICHARD VAN ASCH President
