NEWS IN BRIEF

The board of management met recently and had a very constructive meeting. The newly elected board has some new faces, with a good mix of experience and youth and all of whom are very committed to making south devons the beef breed of choice in NZ!

The bull trial is up and running and has 17 bulls entered from breeders around the country. Check back regularly for updates on weight gains on the trial bulls on the bull trial tab.

The South Devon website will be undergoing a few minor changes in the coming months. The breeders page is due for a update to make it more user friendly. Any studs that wish to submit extra information and photos under their stud name please contact Adele or Brett at the PBB office. The cost for this is minimal ($80 annually) and gives would be buyers of your cattle a better picture of your stud.



 


SOUTH DEVONS SELL WELL AT BEEF EXPO 2010

 

Although only a handful of South Devon bulls were up for auction at Beef Expo in Feilding this week – all animals were sold and at very satisfactory prices.

Champion of the Breed, Ben Vista Dynamic, from the Ben Vista Stud of P &L Robertson, Feilding sold for $5200, with the Reserve Champion, Okaharau Harry D32, on account of R & C Kearney of Hawkes Bay selling for $5000.

The South Devon sale average was $4800.
