The Snowview South Devon programme began in 1972. Initially by AI, our genetic base has continued to expand through AI, bulls sourced from various studs, as well as more latterly, home bred sires.

Farmed at 1200 – 1300 feet above sea level amongst the Inland Central Canterbury foothills, the herd now comprises 50+ Registered Purebred cows, with all progeny retained, and the top half of the bulls kept for private sale as Breeding Bulls.

Our aim is to breed – Structurally sound, balanced cattle, that perform. Bulls that will cross with traditional breeds to reach maximum weights and optimum grading before a second winter. Calving ease and good temperament are essential.

We have a preference for polling, with 2/3 of our herd now polled. All heifers calve as 2 year olds to a South Devon Bull and have done so for 45 years.

The cattle are grass fed only, with cows & bulls wintered on kale and straw. Some baleage is fed to bulls.
